Faye Janzad is a philanthropist with a huge heart. No assignment on behalf of another is impossible. She works tirelessly for her veterans’ charity, not ever drawing a paycheck in 10 years. Faye’s charity (VILA: Veterans Independent Living of Albuquerque), houses homeless and mentally ill veterans. The vision Faye held has evolved into one of a kind business model demonstrating an effective community effort for serving this highly deserving yet primarily ignored population across the US. The charity operates without government assistance, subsidies or grants. The dramatic reduction in emergency room visits by many of the formerly homeless veterans has saved the government many millions of dollars during its years of operation. In 2012, Faye received the NAMI-NM Domenici Family Award (click here to read the award letter).

In addition to her charity that provides for mentally disabled veterans, Faye also operates an assisted living facility for the elderly. She extends the same care, love and attention to the elderly residents and their families as she does for the veterans, and again, without ever receiving personal compensation. Faye has received many letters of recommendation from families thanking her for providing outstanding service to their elderly loved ones while in her care. Several Geriatric Physicians in the Albuquerque area place Faye’s assisted living facility at the top of their referral list. Her reputation is well known and she is beloved in the community.

I met Faye for the first time at one of my seminars in which I mentioned wanting for a sponsor for my TV show. Faye didn’t hesitate. She said, “I’m in.” I saw what a wonderful woman Faye is. She is really a great human being; a quality human being.

Since then, there have been so many moments in which Faye has been kind and generous. With every step she takes…every word she utters, she thinks of others first – always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Faye is out there, standing beside and helping others; going out of her way to assist and create happiness wherever she goes. When she makes a commitment, you can count on her.

Faye’s heart is huge and her compassion surpasses most people on the planet. Watching her work with the elderly people in her care is like a work of art; the love and attention she showers on them is amazing.

Faye is committed to the upliftment of humanity and to finding ways to bring more peace and love to all. If every person could be like Faye; could demonstrate the levels of love, compassion, generosity and courage Faye exudes, this place in which we live would be very different! S.M.R., San Diego, CA

Faye Janzad, Zipora BirnbergWhile working with Zipora Birnberg, a Holocaust survivor, pictured here to the right, Faye discovered a desire that became a vision for helping those who suffer from PTSD and mental illness. She took on working with Zipora as a personal assignment. She could not accept that Zipora’s depression and mental illness could not be overcome. Through receiving unconditional love from Faye for six years, Zipora’s life transformed and the gift of working with the mentally ill blossomed into the Veterans Independent Living of Albuquerque (VILA).
